Jan Osei-Tutu

J. Janewa Osei-Tutu (Jan) is a law professor, who teaches Trademark Law, Intellectual property & Intangible Cultural Heritage, and Contract Law. Jan founded JotKulture LLC to provide expertise and guidance in all areas of federal intellectual property law, with a focus on trademarks and copyrights. In particular, Jan has an interest in guiding and advising clients on choosing and filing effective trademarks. With deep expertise and over two decades in the intellectual property field, Jan has also published several articles on intellectual property law and international law.

In her previous role as legal counsel to the Canadian Patent and Trademark Office and the Intellectual Property Policy Directorate at Industry Canada, she advised the federal government on patent and trademark matters, trademark litigation, copyright legislative reform, and official submissions to the World Trade Organization and the World Intellectual Property Organization. She was also responsible for geographical indications and traditional knowledge files and severed as the primary IP counsel on bilateral trade negotiations with the European Union on wines and geographical indications.

Jan is active in various organizations. She co-chairs the Intellectual Property Committee for the American Branch of the International Law Association and has held leadership or committee roles in the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the International Trademark Association, and the Association of American Law Schools. She is a member of the Miramar Pembroke Pines Chamber of Commerce, and has been licensed to practice law in New York, USA and Ontario, Canada.
